The history of the Donetsk stadium begins while since. It was year 2006 when the contract for its construction was signed or thereabout with the creation of the football arena project. Before Donbass Arena was built the main stadium of the city was “Shakhtar” Stadium.
“Donbass Arena” is the first stadium constructed in Eastern Europe according to all UEFA’s “Elite” standards and it is one and only stadium of the EURO 2012 built without government money. The main investor of the arena is football club “Shakhtar” (Donetsk).
Company that designed the stadium of English (Manchester City), Spanish “Espanola” and German “Bavaria” also elaborated the Donbass Arena project. Due to special form, glass façade and exterior illumination stadium resembles the UFO at day and giant brilliant at night. This grandiose building is situated in the middle of the picturesque park.
The stadium equipped with 90 square meters enormous monitors, special heating system that literally heat the temperature at the stands till 12-14 C. The location under and round the stands are like real entertainment center where you can chill-out in cafes, bars, restaurants, fan shops, club, etc.
During the EURO 2012, “Donbass Arena” will host three matches of the Group D (“Ukrainian one”), two of them with Ukraine’s team partaking, quarter final and semifinal.
